poppy!

Wow - today being the first sunny day in a stretch brought about a surprise. 

We bought a poppy plant a while ago, full with buds but no blooms.  I figured that the plant would bloom in a few days, but instead it weathered a slew of rain and wind for over a week.  Then today, during my lunch break I watched the largest bud open and bloom.  The little bud coverings were left sitting neatly inside the flower - I didn't touch it at all, it was this perfect:
