These little guys are harmless and well-meaning.  They wander among us, picking up bits of old-timey slang and using it even though they don't know what it means.  They'll say things like: "she's madder than an old wet hen" and "see you in the funny papers!"  They eat insects and steal icecream.  They hum to themselves frequently.

I like to imagine them as I'm sitting at work amid stale coffee and the buzz of computers.

...a very little book of lists, that is.

Most of my printables ideas come at about four in the morning after the cat has stepped on my head and I'm debating whether I should even try to get back to sleep.  This one is no exception...Texas.  grumble.

A little set of lists: restaurants to try (Belly), books to read (White Teeth by Zadie Smith), habits to break (nail biting), crafts to master (lace knitting), places to explore (Crater Lake), friends to contact (too many!).  A little book of lists, written by you.  I punched the top left corner and thread a ribbon through.  These little things will fit anywhere - a purse, a book, a pocket (I wish I'd hung them up on the tree as favors when we had company on New Year's Day).

I hope that all my friends and family and blog visitors had a wonderful holiday season.  I can't wait to be inspired by the springtime again, but for now I'm enjoying staying in with the husband, watching lots of Netflix, cooking exotic soups and sleeping in warm flannel sheets.  Hope you all are having lots of fun doing the same.

I haven't been around in a bit!

Working on lots of holiday cards, enjoying the sauna at my apartment, trying to learn how to knit a bootie, enduring the temporary loss of a husband to football...ah, the Fall season.

I had some ideas, though!

We're hosting a small group for Thanksgiving this year (the first time!), but I wished I'd thought of bringing thank you cards to my family's events in the past.  Here's one for your host or hostess (this can work for any celebration):

Here's a small sweet card for a loved one.  I found a photo online and re-drew the animals, but they were really embracing like this.  If you're curious why I was looking online about cats and dogs - see below!

I have a funny, happy, feisty little companion named Texas.

Having grown up around big dogs, I always held a common predisposition against cats.  But along came sweet Texas, needing a home.  He's incredibly communicative and demonstrative; he cuddles and gives kisses, lets us know when he needs to go out, crawls into bed between us during thunderstorms, nips at our ankles in the morning if we are not giving him adequate attention.  Outside, he's the Neighborhood Tough.  Not that he ever fights; he's quite friendly with all the other cats and especially protective of the poor skinny strays.  They all follow him around in this little feline street gang.  Needless to say, I love my Texas as much as any other pet I've ever had.

We've moved to a large apartment that allows small dogs.  At the end of our lane is a park, and at the back of our apartment is a lot of grass and land.  I always wanted to take in a dog from the shelter and make our home even livelier, especially if we happen not to have children right away.  Our schedules allow for one of us to be home every couple of hours during the workweek, and evenings and weekends.  John has agreed, and we've done some research about breeds. 

I'd love advice about cats and dogs coexisting...
